GRO with Us 2006
Community gardens are common ground for growing, celebrating, and regenerating the diverse San Francisco landscape. Here, a typical slice of community garden wedged into a small urban space, is habitat for birds, bees, plants, and community building. GRO with Us was built on the Cow Palace’s hollow concrete floor in two days—record time—by volunteers with materials donated by businesses in and around the community. Sculptor Kris Borchardt, www.kbsculpture.com, created the bottle tree, and local hip-hop dancer/muralist Eli Lippard painted the graffiti wall. If you missed the segment on Henry’s Garden show, or KNTV Bay Area news, read more about the garden at SF Gate.

The Garden of Sustainable Delights 2004
The Garden of Sustainable Delights is home to a green-roofed studio surrounded by native plants, potted edibles, and aromatics. Found-material sculptural elements by artist Kris Borchardt complete the garden. Green roofs captures stormwater runoff, augment biodiversity, and provide natural insulation and beauty. The entry was touted in the Noe Valley Voice, March 2, 2004, the San Francisco Chronicle Magazine, March 14, 2004, as well as on the front page of the March 20, 2004 San Francisco Chronicle Home and Garden section, "Water Flows Through S.F. Garden Show."
